Our 5th classes hosted our first assembly this year to celebrate Irish Culture and Heritage on Culture Day, 2023.The students informed us about the 32 counties in Ireland, our four provinces and our national flag which symbolises inclusion and unity between all people on this island. We heard about the many historical buildings in Youghal including the Town Walls, Water Gate,Tynte’s Castle and Myrtle Grove. Other aspects of Irish culture were also mentioned including Irish food, St. Patrick’s Day, the Gaa and Irish Dance. Musical entertainment included the singing of “Ireland’s Call “ and “Zoombie” accompanied by our inhouse school band The Town Wall Turtles! All students and staff wore green to cheer on and support our Irish Rugby Team as they prepare for their big game against South Africa on Saturday.
Well done to the 5th classes and their teachers Mr. Hickey, Ms. Hurney and Mr. White.
