Bunscoil Mhuire students celebrated World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st 2026 by wearing odd socks. The odd socks idea was created because chromosomes are shaped like socks and people with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome. Wearing odd colourful socks on World Down Syndrome Day helps raise awareness of people with Down Syndrome.
Pupils also contributed to a fundraiser for Down Syndrome Cork. Many thanks to everyone who donated on the day.
Total amount raised €681! Fantastic!
