Samba Band

The Bunscoil Mhuire samba band was established in 2018 by teacher Alan White who is also a member of the Cork City Samba Band. The school samba band has been a roaring success since forming and have wowed audiences from Youghal to Cork City.  The band consists of children from 4th – 6th class and play Brazilian rhythms as well as house, funk, techno and drum and bass.  The band regularly play for charities across Cork and have made some fabulous contributions to the likes of Bumbelance and Down Syndrome Cork in their short existence.  The band have also been asked to perform at various festivals such as the Moby Dick Festival and the inaugural Ironman in Youghal. There are currently 23 children in the band as well as various teachers. This number will grow this year and in 2019 we also hope to grow the amount of instruments that the school currently have and provide samba workshops for all children in the school.  Please check back for more updates and clips of our performances.
