Bunscoil Mhuire fifth class students are currently taking part in an 8 week cookery module run by our wonderful Parents’ Association. During this time students learn how to make a wide variety of both sweet and savoury dishes including scrambled eggs, pizza rolls, scones, queen cakes, soup, spaghetti bolognese and gingerbread men! Bunscoil Mhuire is unique in that it has a fully equipped cookery kitchen to facilitate these classes.
Cookery can help children learn and practise some basic maths concepts and develop language skills and vocabulary. Preparing meals can help to build a child’s self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits.
Many thanks to our parents-Danielle McCarthy, Rachel Flanagan, Breda Plante, Louise Twomey, Sinead Jones,Aisling Hickey,Bronwyn Carolina,Dee Murphy,Karen Whitley and Karen Sharkey who give of their time and expertise to facilitate this learning experience for the children.
